Newsela Midterms
Challenge
Midterm Elections are an important teaching moment for some social studies teachers - so Newsela wanted to highlight what materials were available for those that needed them. In today’s political climate - color has deep significance and Newsela’s brand color is blue. Creating a careful and thoughtful balance across this campaign was crucial. Another challenge - I had 48 hours to create the concept.
Concept
Sort of a Rock the vote meets stars and stripes - this campaign focused on the importance of voting. Showing folks of all ages voting in a variety of ways. Stars and stripes - a nod of course to the American flag were woven throughout.
Solution
The resulting creative needed to have nearly as much of our secondary Newsela Red color in it as it did Newsela blue. But in centering on our nations symbol of unity - the American flag and featuring everyones ability to vote the creative maintains a careful balance.
